Being an athlete can be a great career choice for those with an affinity for sports. Doing what you love and being paid for it – a dream for anyone, right? When you watch a sports channel or download Betway app, you’ll stumble upon a lot of familiar faces that excel in one sport or another. Seeing the same faces on the music charts can, in turn, be much more surprising. Betway offers its users a wide variety of betting options, covering every sport in every corner of the globe. It doesn’t stop there, though – its betting options often include more interesting choices, ranging from politics and awards to reality shows or even the weather. But not even Betway can predict the surprising career choices of some of the most famous athletes in the world after they retire from active duty – and exchange the ball for a microphone or a guitar.

Wayman Tisdale made a name for himself in the US professional basketball league, the NBA. He is a Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, and he spent his professional career at teams like the Sacramento Kings and the Phoenix Suns. He even has a basketball award named in his honour: the Wayman Tisdale Award is offered to outstanding freshmen in college basketball.

Tisdale was also a bass player with eight studio albums on record. After retiring from sports, he dedicated his energy to his other passion: bass guitar. He recorded eight albums with the jazz band Power Forward, with the 2001 release Face to Face reaching the number one spot on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz charts.

Oscar de la Hoya was one of the best boxers to ever set foot in the ring. In 1995, he was the top fighter in the world, earning the title of “The Golden Boy of boxing” when representing the US at the 1992 Summer Olympics – and subsequently winning a gold medal. He retired from professional boxing in 2009, after 16 years in the ring, and 30 wins by KO on record.

De la Hoya inherited his talent in music from his mother, a ranchera song stylist from Mexico. Even before retiring from boxing, he released the album “Oscar de la Hoya”, a bilingual collection of love ballads that earned him a Grammy Award nomination in 2000.
